Who we are
Voter Choice Irvine is a nonpartisan, grassroots coalition of people across Irvine who believe in majority rule.
We are advocating for ranked choice voting because - in a city of rapid growth and competing special interests - we want elected officials that work together for us.

What is Ranked Choice Voting?
Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a simple, proven electoral method used in cities and states across the United States. Instead of choosing one candidate, voters can rank their preferences — 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, and so on — which are counted in a series of rounds, also known as a runoff, until a winner earns more than 50% of the votes.
If no candidate wins an outright majority in the first round, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and those votes are transferred to each voters' next choice. The process continues until one candidate earns a true majority, ensuring the winner has broad support.
In Irvine, candidates have won with just a third of the vote — not a true majority — and it’s time that changed.
